Stonehouse Community Archive

Stonehouse Community Archive

Stonehouse is one of three original towns that were unified into modern-day Plymouth in 1914. It is home to diverse and vibrant communities living among significant historic spaces such as Royal William Yard and Millfields with Union Street passing through linking Plymouth and Devonport.

In 2011 Fotonow CIC worked with Plymouth City Council to develop a community project to capture the essence of the America's Cup international sailing event, which was based at Millbay in Stonehouse. The result was a community archive space to enable anyone to add images of the event, the work was shown at KARST Gallery on George Place as part of Vessel exhibition.

Stonehouse Community Archive project now has support from Community First to develop an ongoing photographic project to capture the community, through a series of workshops and promotion of this archive resource. ANYONE can upload photographic work and share moments past or present.
